Why is it so hard for some people to understand the fact that white people just cant use the word. Think about it like this a girl can go to another girl whats up bitch because they have a mutual unerstanding of how and why they are using the word. Is it that hard to understand? The word was used by white people to oppress and insult African people, so we turned around and changed the meaning for ourselves but the old meaning still stands when a white gut says it simple as that. ? for that guy Bill who would you rather call you white trash as a joke a white guy or Black guy, in which situation would you feel even the slightest bit of hurt or animosity, there you have it common sense, and Bill you just generalized all black people as being racially sensitive I can hear a bit of racism in your tone. Why dont you do some research on black American history and you'll see how recent black oppression is to 2005 only one generation away then ask yourself why SOME blacks may be racially sensitive. Idiot!!

Haha one more thing to say. sorry :)
Around 1853 this guy Santa Ana sold a huge chunk of Mexico to the US (Texas, nevada, new mexico and I think California) for $500 at the time. I find it ironic that in those places (especially texax) there are many racists.....

Although the 'we' and 'they' part does prolong racial segregation. And the fact that this is till used makes me wonder about racial questions. Race is all in ones mind, I think the thing that seperates people is culture. I don't care if someone is black, white or a shade in between. Culture and religion of course are the bad things.(look at the damn war)

I don't think it's prologing racial segregation, white people 'aren't' allowed to use the word because then it would be used derogatorily. You could compare it with black people using the word 'hick', 'hobo' or 'redneck' for white people. Doesn't matter how you use it, it's bound to offend people. If these words had no negative pasts then it would be more common tu use I guess. Bottomline is that you simply just can't use it because the whole meaning behind the word is to belittle a black person.

Saying Black people can use the word and White people can't is just prolonging racial segregation. Its a form of Us vs. Them. Although I don't say it due to the extreme level of black sensitivity to everything and anything about race.

The first recorded use was in 1948 when the number of illegal Mexicans swarming the United States increased by a significantly large percentage.
