M3 – Not sure which it is, since it could be an electromagnetic lock, but it could be an electromagnetic assistance for opening a heavy door – but your probably right, the button in the game is just misleading. Anyway – you press the green ON button, which implies that your turning it ON, then the state of the button changes to OFF, implying you can then turn it OFF by pressing… but who cares anyway, press the ON button and the door can be opened. (I hope you actually have an M3 and not having a bulls**t name eh)

SOLUTION: Get the PDA (which will control the door) from the under the desk (its stuck to the underside of the table), get the PDA password hint note from between the two books on the shelf, get the keys from the bottom right of the door, open the draw with the keys to get the power cord, get the swipe card from under the table (stuck to the bottom of the pillar) then go to the grey safe looking thing and use the card, turning the green light and power on. Now go to the white wall socket and use the power cord to click on it, this charges the PDA, select the PDA, using the password hint you can tell that the second number is 12 more than the last, the third number is 16 more, therefore you can work out the next number is 20 more than the last, which is 8292+20 = 8312, type that into the PDA and when accepted, press the green ON button to turn the “Electromagnet door power” on. Click the PDA icon to get back to the main screen, navigate to the door, and your out.
